It’s been two months since the Astros have made the playoffs, and they’ve lost four straight games to finish with a 3-14 record.
So much for that.
There are so many issues with this Astros team, and so many questions about the future of this franchise.
Here are some of the worst things we’ve seen from this Astros season: * What’s next for the Astros?
They’re not going to be winning a lot of games.
They’re still missing key pieces like Carlos Correa, Josh Reddick, and Carlos Gomez.
And they’re still playing with a .500 record.
If you’ve ever wondered how this Astros lineup could have been worse, you’ve got to get back to the good old days of 2016.
The Astros have the worst starting rotation in baseball, and there’s no reason to believe they’re going to win any more games than they’re losing right now.
The team’s depth has been exposed and it’s not going anywhere.
And if you’re wondering why they haven’t been able to add a superstar like Carlos Beltran to this team, that’s because they’re not the only team that has the luxury of getting the right type of player in return for a prospect.
* The Astros are a disaster on the field.
If there was one team that looked like it could do anything, it’s the Astros.
They’ve got an incredible depth in the outfield and the outfield defense is better than it’s ever been.
The only reason the Astros are losing games is because of a couple of guys that haven’t gotten playing time: Chris Carter and Mark Canha.
They were supposed to be the starting third baseman, but Carter has struggled, and Canha hasn’t been very good.
This Astros lineup has never been better, and it won’t be for long.
* And then there’s the roster.
There’s a lot to be said about the Astros defense, and the team has been very strong on offense.
But their offense has been awful, and while they’re capable of going deep into the playoffs (like they did in 2016), the Astros offense has never really been good.
The biggest thing with this team is that the roster is still too thin, and you can’t just take out any of these players and expect them to make an impact.
This team could still contend, but the way this team has performed, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it fall short of a wild-card berth.
This isn’t a team that can just sit back and take chances and expect to get out of the way of the inevitable.
The real problem with this season for the Houston Astros is that they’ve been so bad.
They don’t have a superstar, they don’t need one, and their rotation isn’t going to turn out well.
The 2017 Astros are not the team that we’ve all been waiting for, and that’s not a good thing.
